This type of finishing material, due to its fragile structure, is distinguished by its significant weight. Therefore, before starting the installation, you should carefully study the technical characteristics of the building or apartment. Exceeding the permissible pressure on the beams and floors of some houses can lead to the collapse of structures.
Let's get down to the process.
Like many finishing materials, the panels must also sit in the room where they will be installed for at least 48 hours to get used to its temperature and humidity.
There are two mounting options:
- self-tapping screws on the metal profile of the lathing,
- on the glue-treated wall surface.
Both methods have their characteristics.
In the first case, you can damage the panel with careless actions when drilling holes in it for a self-tapping screw.
In the second, perfectly flat walls are needed. Installation of 3D gypsum panels follows the same algorithm as when laying any wall tiles. It is necessary to mark the places of fixing the panels with a pencil and a level, then apply glue to the wall with a notched trowel and carefully press the material against it.
Essential details of the adhesive installation method
When choosing an adhesive mixture, preference should be given to those that include gypsum. Due to the high cost of glue, the correction of walls with its help entails its rapid consumption and a significant increase in the cost of repair.
Achieving a visually homogeneous coating with seamless installation occurs when 2-3 mm joints are allowed between the panels. They are filled with putty, using a rubber spatula after the glue has dried or immediately applying the composition to the end surface. The panels lend themselves to sawing with a hacksaw. Therefore, they can be adjusted to the parameters of the wall.
If coloration of panels is required, then they need preliminary priming. Then a layer of acrylic, water-based, or latex paint is applied with a roller or spray gun. Work is done with a roller or spray gun.
Installation of 3D gypsum panels is a very painstaking process. But it's worth it!
